We are a team in Growth and Notifications (GaNT). GaNT provides a generic notification platform and collaborates with all product areas at Google for improving the quality of communications with Google's users and for helping in product re-engagement and growth. Our team leverages GaNT systems and develops over the entire organizations stack to increase user reach-out capabilities and to develop advanced impactful features (e.g., a complex user journey and adding new communication channels). We serve multiple use cases spanning from promotional notifications to critical security alerts.
As a Software Engineer on the team, you will work with multiple teams across GaNT (and outside of GaNT), as many of the features we develop are cross-team ones.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Googles flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Googles products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Responsibilities
Help the team to improve our offerings to collaborators by implementing new features and abilities, and specifically new channels in which we can drive impact.
Drive complete development cycles from requirements and design through implementation and establishing test plans.
Collaborate closely with other team members and across teams to solve complex problems leveraging a wide technology stack.
Requirements: Minimum qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience programming in Java, C++ or Kotlin.
Experience in performance measuring, benchmarking and optimizations.
Experience in large scale distributed systems.
Experience in large scale serving systems.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles and ability to work in complex codebases and architecture.
