Job Description
Design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions and infrastructure to support data processing, data quality and data tools for different data professionals and consumers in the organization

Develop and maintain generic processes to ingest data automatically from various sources into our data lake/data warehouse

Lead end to end projects in the data infrastructure group, working closely with users and leaders from the Data Engineering Guild

Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure teams to integrate data engineering solutions into our products and services to create high-quality deliverables

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and recommend best practices to improve our data infrastructure

Similarweb is a data company, and the DaaS team is the enabler of that. As a backend engineer, you will be part of paving the way for Similarweb to make the petabyte-scale data accessible to all of our clients via multiple platforms using top-notch big data tools.

So, what will you be doing all day?

Your role as part of the Backend Engineer means your daily responsibilities may include:

Building and maintaining our core DaaS offerings including realtime APIs, big data exporting APIs and data feeds.
Take a major part in designing and implementing complex high scale systems using large variety of technologies
Be part of a team with smart and motivated engineers, collaborate on planning, development and maintenance of our products.
Implement solutions in AWS cloud environment, we especially like serverless services.

Responsibilities
Participate in the agile feature/product design process working with cross-functional teams
Design, implement and enhance services at large scale as part of the sales product, enabling various customers use cases. E2E responsibilities including technical documentation and automation tests.
Production support involved with monitoring production systems and remediating issues
Strong leadership and communication skills (Hebrew and English), and ability to work well in a team. Collaborate with other engineers to share best practices and knowledge of emerging technologies
Engage with customers to get a first-hand understanding of their needs
Perform and participate in peer code reviews

What Youll Do:
Youll be part of the group responsible for Similarwebs main products, reporting to the Director of R&D. Lead the charge on technical designs, gradually evolving the architecture and dev environment, and lead the Backend guild of the group. Dive into the latest technologies, tools, and design patterns to supercharge the backbone of our digital intelligence platform, ETLs, and large-scale data serving.

Your Day-to-Day:
As the Digital Suite BE Tech Lead, you will:

Cultivate a production-first mindset in the group.
Navigate our technical roadmap, aiming for world-class quality, stability, and dev experience.
Ensure coding standards for backend and data pipelines are top-notch, monitored, and upheld.
Dive into technical designs and code reviews, sharing your experience, while working towards the architecture goals
Facilitate knowledge sharing within the teams.
Work hand-in-hand with R&D team leads and PMs to ensure our tech meets our business goals, both short and long-term.

Building Wixs 3000 microservices and 32M lines of code requires high-scale CI/CD. Bazel is our build tool of choice and we front its Scala integration and work on building additional sophisticated features, world-class pipelines, and highly scalable services to support them. We do hardcore backend engineering and specialize in Bazel, its tooling, and integrations.
We also work closely with the developers at Wix to improve their day-to-day experience and eliminate velocity killers, from their IDE to GA.

As an engineer in the Bazel team, youll:

Build and maintain tooling that helps our developers build and deliver code faster

Build, and maintain highly scalable backend services providing unique CI/CD experiences to support Wixs backend code.

Work as a part of the Bazel OSS community, participate in discussions and workgroups and help shape Bazel itself

Youll be part of the group responsible for Similarwebs main products. You will impact the work of developers in the group by designing, building and maintaining the core infrastructure of our solution and leading the research and development of new technologies as well as maintaining code standards and practices.

You will be working on Similarwebs core B2B platform that serves tens of thousands of customers, serving hundreds of terabytes in production. Our backend engineers are responsible for the entire data lifecycle - from our endless datatlakes, through choosing the right serving methods and databases, all the way to our api services.

So, what will you be doing all day?

Developing tools and libraries to help other developers to concentrate on fulfilling business requirements
Define and develop best practices for healthy production and rapid development without compromising code quality and performance
Improve stability and efficiency of production services
Develop and maintain core backend components
Perform POCs on new technologies and implement them in dev teams
Lead technical initiatives across different teams
Troubleshoot complex production issues
Developing our architecture ensuring development velocity and scale
